What does the app do?
In short, the app integrates your solar panel energy production with EV charging. Our vision is to provide a platform that gives you freedom to combine inverter and EV brands, and thus hopefully make sustainable EV charging more commonplace. What hardware is supported to begin with?
In typical lean startup fashion, the idea is to start small and focus on core capabilities and grow from there. This is both in respect to the hardware we support, and also with respect to features of the product.
As beta testing commences, we only support Growatt inverters, which is the most aggressively priced inverter / domestic battery system on the market today. It is chinese and as such comes with limited software support and lots of unfulfilled desires from most owners. We hope to supplement this great hardware offering with our software offering.
Right now we only support Tesla EVs. This is by far the most widespread EV in our target market (see below). Tesla has great integration for solar panels and EVs if you have a Tesla solar panel system, but as that is not even for sale in our target market there is no proper solution to integrate your Tesla EV with solar panels today.
Got other hardware, can I join the beta?
We are working on extending the supported hardware, so please let us know what you have and if your setup is aligned with what we’re shipping next you can join the beta.
As you can probably figure out, we’re working to get all the other top-selling solar inverters and EVs supported.
Target market (countries open for beta testing)
To begin with we’re only accepting beta testers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Holland.
If you’re located outside these countries, you can still contact us to get on the waiting list for when we enter other countries.
How to sign up?
If you want to sign up as a beta tester, send a mail to solarcharge at compellingsoftware.com. Tell us what kind of hardware you have, what town and country you live in.
Then we will get you onboard, unless the quota for that hardware / area combo has been filled up. We need the beta testers to be distributed across hardware and geography, so you may be put on hold a bit until we have a vacant spot in the beta tester team.
Why sign up?
The beta testers will have full access to all functions of the app for free. We’re a small startup, so this is the only means we have to compensate you for the time you spend participating in our beta test.
In return we expect you to provide feedback to us regarding the beta versions, bugs found, and suggestions for improvements. As a beta tester you have more influence on the future development as you have direct contact to the development team.
For how long do I sign up?
If you like the app and continue using it after the app has officially launched, you can still stay in the beta program to provide feedback and inputs to the future development of the system. You can at any time let us know, and we will remove you from the beta testing program.
Background for the app
Here at Compelling Software, we have the aim to support a more sustainable world. Both with respect to reducing food waste (Grocery app Grosh), but now also SolarCharge which supports sustainable transportation.
We’ve been working on the SolarCharge concept for years, and it’s been thoroughly tested internally in Compelling Software, so we now feel ready to onboard the first beta testers.
Fine print
We reserve the right to remove you from the beta testing program in case you leave little or no feedback to Compelling Software in order to leave room for other people to join the beta program.
You cannot be affiliated with any company offering software services in the same space as SolarCharge. In case you sign up for beta testing anyway, we reserve the right to at a later time invoke legal action against you and the affiliated company.
